What is healing?
Healing occurs naturally. When the body is sick or injured, natural mechanisms in the body will begin the healing process. As Betty Alice Erickson once said, “The difference between therapy and healing is vital. Therapy is what the doctor does to you. Healing is what you do to you. I can put a cast on your broken arm, but you have to heal it.” Such a healing process is possible in psychology, too. When people become "stuck" and resigned to their troubles, they suffer. Hypnosis is a gentle way to tap into a person's natural resources to help them become unstuck, to help them find a solution. All healing takes time, and hypnosis is a way to begin that natural healing process. Hypnotherapy sometimes feels like magic, yet it is simply a way to reconnect you with your natural resources, which will then start the healing process.
